beauty of weaving with purpose in our Rag Rug Weaving Workshop at Fusion Fiber Arts. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to transform recycled fabrics—such as old sheets, clothing, and textiles—into a stunning, durable rag rug full of texture and character.
Guided step-by-step, participants will explore basic weaving techniques on a rag rug loom while gaining an appreciation for the history and sustainability of this timeless craft. Rag rug weaving not only creates something functional and beautiful for your home, but also gives new life to materials that might otherwise be discarded—making it a meaningful and environmentally conscious art form.
This workshop includes three classes, where in Class #1 you’ll learn to prepare your fabric and warp your loom. Class #2 you will learn about the weft and how to weave your rug. A rag rug loom is included in the course fee, so you can continue your weaving journey at home. Approximately one month after your final weaving session, you’ll return for a final class focused on finishing techniques—learning how to properly secure and complete your rug for long-lasting use.
